ARBA Seasonal Shows

Since 2018, ARBA has held quarterly "Seasonal" shows, mostly at the Wheatsheaf Hotel. These special shows allow us to showcase some of the best local blues talent, usually in unique configurations. These shows also give us the opportunity to bring some of the best interstate talent to Adelaide.

It has become traditional for Summer Blues in January to be a showcase for female blues musicians and singers.

These shows further our aims of promoting local blues talent and fostering a wider appreciation of the blues.

Friday Night Live

During the Covid 19 restrictions of 2020, our Friday Night Live streaming only events gave local blues acts a gig, and local fans (and those from interstate and overseas) music to enjoy in what were very trying times for many people. We decided that if we were going to do it we would do it as professionally as possible, in a venue with a stage and PA and with sound and lighting done by professional technicians. There were many challenges to overcome and some glitches, especially early on, but these gigs were much appreciated by musicians and fans alike.

Viewers were able to make online payments via PayPal and many chose to do so, the support was remarkable, all of these payments were given to the acts. After the first 7 shows we secured a grant from the SA Government’s Department for Innovation and Skills. This allowed us to offer a guarantee to the acts, in addition to the money paid by viewers. All up, we did 24 standalone “Friday Night Live” shows.
