2024 ARBA Youth in Blues Fundraiser Showcase

The 2024 Adelaide Roots & Blues Association Youth in Blues program concluded on Saturday 24th of August with the ARBA Youth in Blues Fundraiser Showcase held on the main stage of The Gov.

4 youth ensembles comprised of 24 musicians entertained the crowd before the afternoon concluded with a special mentor performance with youth special guests. It was a brilliant afternoon of music with so much talent on display, those present were left in no doubt that the future of South Australian blues is in good hands!

Several items were auctioned and raffled during the afternoon and all proceeds from the showcase event will go toward funding the ARBA Youth in Blues program. Thanks to Gunther Faber and Beck Blacker from Avonti Wines for the generous donation of their wine for auction and raffling. Thanks also to Peter Hane for the donation of the record clock.
A big thankyou to all who attended and to The Gov for generously allowing us the use of their iconic venue!
Special thanks to our mentors Peter Nixon, Erica Graf, Mario Marino and Evan Whetter for doing such an amazing job with our young musicians. Thanks also to ARBA President Peter Ferguson, the entire ARBA committee and all the volunteers for their contributions. A massive thank you to all of of our members, without whom it would not be possible to run a Youth in Blues Program or any of our initiatives.

Finally, thanks to Samra Teague for her time and effort in capturing the magic of the afternoon with her lovely photos!

ARBA Youth in Blues Mission Statement

The mission of the ARBA Youth in Blues program is to educate, nurture and foster the next generation of South Australian blues musicians. Participants will be educated and mentored by experienced professional musicians.

They will learn about the history of the blues, blues musical forms, song writing, stagecraft and marketing. They will get the opportunity to connect, rehearse and perform with other young musicians. There will also be public performance opportunities.

The program will also aim to introduce the participants and their families to the wider blues community and foster connections that will continue well past the formal program duration.

The ARBA Youth in Blues Program is an important contributor to the ongoing sustainability and longevity of the blues scene in South Australia.

ARBA takes the safety and well-being of our Youth in Blues participants seriously. Our Child Safe Environment Policy and Procedure is available HERE
