ARBA 2024 GOALS

Each Year the ARBA committee sets specific goals to ensure we achieve our overall board aims of supporting local roots and blues music and fostering a wider appreciation of those genres.

Our specific goals for the 2024 calendar year are listed below:

1. Deliver a weekly gig guide/newsletter via email to our mailing list.

2. Maintain and grow the association website and social media presence.

3. Maintain and grow the annual “Memphis Blues Challenge” competition, our annual open, live, judged music competition comprised of “band” and “solo/duo” categories.

4. Give the winners of both categories of the “Memphis Blues Challenge” competition the opportunity and assistance to compete at The International Blues Challenge in Memphis.

5. Conduct ARBA “seasonal” gigs, once a season at the Wheatsheaf Hotel, or other suitable venue or venues.

6. Continue and grow our relationship with the City of Prospect and Club 5082.

7. Continue the “Blues Album of the Year” (BAY) and “Roots Album of the Year” (RAY) and “Paul Hay Award” on an annual basis. Enter the Blues Album of the Year into the Blues Foundation's Best Self-Produced CD competition.

8. Plan for a Member Muster (or equivalent) event, to be held annually.

9. To establish and maintain links with suitable roots and blues related music festivals held both in South Australia and throughout the rest of the country, as well as local and interstate promoters.

10. To continue to develop and facilitate the ARBA “Youth in Blues” programme.

11. To run an annual membership drive, with the aim of attracting new members and encouraging existing members to renew.

12. To organise a member only item to be sent to each member upon renewing/ joining – currently a sticker and badge.
